Customs & International Trade
Progistix provides US and Canadian Customs management services. Contracted
customs brokerage houses provide actual customs clearance. The
management of the services and import and export actives include the following
areas.
- Act as main single point of contact on Customs issues
- Act as interface between Customer and Customs
- Act on Client's behalf for all esquires from Customs
- Act as liaison between Client and the Customs Broker(s)
- Determine proper Customs classification for all imported products pre
and post clearance
- Ensure timely release of all imported product
- Authorize release of imported products by determining:
- Proper tariff treatments
- Free Trade certificates
- Value for duty codes
- Resolve any missing documentation or classification issues
- Maintain all import records with Customs on behalf of Customer
- Audit all import entries and verify Customs Brokers invoices for accuracy
- Assist Customer vendors in the application and completion of Free Trade
Certificates to ensure lowest duty rate is applied to all imports
- Manage renewal of NAFTA certificates
- Uniform application of tariffs and NAFTA certificates across all import
locations
- Apply for Customs rulings and submit requests for refunds of duty on
Customer's behalf
- Advise Customer's Purchasing with appropriate duty rates for imported
products
- Prepare documentation for Canadian and United States Customs for exported
material
- Arrange for delivery to final destination of all imported and exported
material
- Arrange for all “Off Normal” clearances and deliveries
- Assist Customer in establishing harmonized system codes
- Duty drawback management
- Payment of Brokerage and freight forwarding service fees, duty and GST
- Market Test Customs Brokers – Select and manage
- Enter and Maintain HS codes for all products in customer's system
